Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina Commends UNDP and Administrator Steiner at Executive Board Session

New York, 4 June 2025 — The Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations, Ambassador Zlatko Lagumdžija, delivered a statement during the interactive dialogue with the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the UNDP Executive Board session, emphasizing the importance of the longstanding partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and UNDP.

In his remarks, Ambassador Lagumdžija underlined that Bosnia and Herzegovina greatly values UNDP’s role in supporting national development priorities, particularly in strengthening institutions, promoting inclusive governance, advancing environmental sustainability, and enhancing disaster risk resilience.

He specifically welcomed UNDP’s strategic focus on value for money and agility, highlighting the importance of investments in digital innovation, green transition, and inclusive development pathways that leave no one behind.

Looking ahead, the Ambassador expressed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s support for a proactive and adaptive approach in shaping UNDP’s next strategic framework beyond 2025. He also called for deeper cooperation with local stakeholders, youth, and civil society, while ensuring alignment with national development goals.

In a heartfelt moment, Ambassador Lagumdžija extended special thanks to Administrator Achim Steiner, marking his final address to the Executive Board in this role. “Your leadership has been marked by unwavering commitment, vision, and integrity. You leave behind a legacy that will serve as an example for future generations,” Ambassador Lagumdžija stated.

Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to strengthening its partnership with UNDP in the pursuit of a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all its citizens.
