Bosnia and Herzegovina has established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Seychelles
On June 4, 2014, in the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations in New York, there was a signing ceremony of the Joint Statement establishing diplomatic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Seychelles. On behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Joint Statement was signed by the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Mirsada Colakovic. On behalf of the Republic of Seychelles, the Joint Statement was signed by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Marie-Louis Potter.
After the ceremony, the ambassadors exchanged their viewpoints on possibilities to improve and intensify bilateral cooperation. It is particularly emphasized the importance of the signing of a bilateral double taxation avoidance agreement that would contribute to the strengthening of trade and tourism when it is signed. The two Ambassadors considered the possibility of introducing travel relieves bearing in mind the support of religious tourism. Both sides emphasized the exchange of high level bilateral visits that would contribute to deepening friendly relations and opening new opportunities for cooperation.
Ambassador Potter has expressed sympathy for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina because of the human and material damage caused by the recent floods. Her Excellency has announced Seychelles’s donation for the fund for victims of the flood and has also signed in the Condolence Book which was opened in the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina in New York.
In support of strengthening friendly relations, Ambassador Potter has handed a letter that confirms the support of Seychelles for the candidate of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) on elections that will be held at the end of June 2014 in New York.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has to date established diplomatic relations with 172 member countries of the UN.
