Ambassador Mirsada Čolaković, former Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN (2012-2015), received on 11 December 2023 at the UN Headquarters in New York the “The Power of One – Oscars of Diplomacy” award. The sponsor of this symbolic award, which placed Ambassador Čolaković side by side with former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and former President of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak, is the American Foundation “Diwali”, together with the Delegation of the European Union to the UN and the UN Alliance of Civilizations and supported by numerous international co-sponsors.
The award “The Power of One -The Oscars of Diplomacy” is being awarded to outstanding UN diplomats who have contributed to the advancement of peace, reconciliation and understanding between peoples and cultures within the UN community of states.
The explanation of the award decision emphasized excellent achievements of Ambassador Colakovic during her tenure in representing Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United Nations, especially during the BiH membership in the UN Security Council, by promoting the principles of the UN Charter and international peace.
The event was attended by numerous prominent representatives of the United Nations, US Congress and Judiciary, ambassadors, as well as by the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, as well as Ambassador Zlatko Lagumdžija, who congratulated the awardees and expressed his commitment to continue contributing to the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this most prominent international organization.
