The Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Mirsada Colakovic met with the Lieutenat General Anto Jelec, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina


 
On March 26, 2015, the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Mirsada Čolaković welcomed in the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN the Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Mirsada Čolaković spoke about the role that Bosnia and Herzegovina has in the UN and how the Mission of BiH in New York City fulfills its duties accordingly. Furthermore, she emphasized the important work of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s military and police officers in the UN Peacekeeping operations. This involvement will certainly continue increasing and spreading, however such a positive story deserves more public attention, added Ambassador Čolaković. She is also hopeful that the participation of BiH military and police officers will be followed by diplomatic support, covering countries in which military and police officers from Bosnia and Herzegovina are serving.

Lieutenant General Jeleč, head of the delegation, thanked Ambassador Mirsada Čolaković and the staff of the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN for the successfully organized visit. He pointed out the importance of regional collaboration regarding military decisions, especially emphasizing the progress made by collaborating in the areas of information technology and education. In addition, he indicated the significance of the Cheifs of Defense Conference, which he will be attending on March 27, 2015. This will be the first conference of that kind ever held.

Lieutenant General Jeleč expressed that it would be incredibly significant for the cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UN to appoint a military advisor at the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN in New York City.
